In Austin, shops are busiest on Monday mornings and before holiday weekends, so a mid-week appointment gets a car seen faster. Labor rates across Texas vary by neighborhood and by shop type, from small independents to dealership service bays, and mobile mechanics now cover many routine jobs in the driveway. Before authorizing a repair, ask for the estimate in writing, whether the shop warranties parts and labor (12 months / 12,000 miles is common, some offer more), and whether it can provide a loaner or a shuttle. Check the listing for hours, the makes the shop works on and its Google rating, then call ahead, since walk-in capacity is limited at smaller shops.

Austin is in Texas, in the South, where summers are hot and humid, winters are short, and severe storms in spring are a fact of life; businesses run air conditioning most of the year and many open early to beat the heat. Getting around Austin is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Texas's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

It’s hard finding a new car shop, let alone one you can trust. I’ve only been in Austin for a year now. Highly recommend this shop! I was suggested here by a friend. I got an oil change and thought I needed my breaks done. I got a phone call explaining how I didn’t need my breaks done. I didn’t understand too well why, the man over the phone explained in detail why I’m not close to needing them just to get them checked next oil change. The honesty is what made me want to bring my car here each and every time I need something done now! Thank you for a great experience, it was worth every penny bringing my car here and getting it taken care of right!!!!!

Request for Refund of Diagnostic Fee August 3, 2026 I am requesting a refund of the approximately $160 diagnostic fee because the diagnosis I received was later acknowledged by your staff to be incorrect. That incorrect diagnosis caused unnecessary expenses, multiple return visits, and significant inconvenience. Timeline July 16–17: I spoke with Jason and explained we are a one-car family. He recommended bringing my vehicle in on July 20 for the best chance of same-day service. July 20: After arriving for my appointment, I was told the vehicle could not be looked at because the shop had received 12 vehicles. I was asked to return and drop off my car on July 22, on that date I rented a car. July 22: I was told the vehicle had a fuel injector/computer issue and that the roof rack needed plastic straps. Jason also said the repairs should be covered under warranty. Based on that information, I scheduled an appointment with Nissan. July 23: Nissan informed me the warranty had expired in April 2026 and that they would have to perform their own diagnosis. I then contacted Rising Sun again. John asked me to bring the vehicle back on July 27 for the electrical technician. I authorized t

I’m very happy I chose Rising Sun to service my truck. They are honest, responsive, and transparent. My Toyota feels and drives like brand new again. Their estimating process is clear, with a detailed breakdown of costs, and the turnaround time was impressively fast. You can tell they genuinely care about their customers and value long-term relationships. I highly recommend them and will definitely be back.

I've been taking my 2014 Lexus GX460 to Rising Sun Automotive for several years and have always had a great experience. Jeremy has earned my trust by recommending maintenance when it's actually needed, not simply looking to add work to the bill. At 120K miles, he explained why services like spark plugs and differential fluid were worth doing for the long-term health of the vehicle. Jeremy and team consistently deliver quality work, communicate honestly, and stand behind their repairs. Not sure what more one can ask for. Certainly keeps me coming back.

Jeremy and John could not have been nicer or better to work with. They got my car in and diagnosed the issue quickly. I will definitely be back. I especially appreciated the fact that I was told they were very busy the first time I went in ( on a Friday) and they suggested I come back early the following week so I would not be carless over the weekend. I highly recommend Rising Sun. Great service.
